Gattaca Essay

The movie Gattaca is about a man named Vincent who ever since he was a little boy, wanted to go up into space. But first he has to attend at Gattaca to be allowed to go into space. He had the knowledge and most of the qualifications. The only thing that was holding him back was his genes. If you looked at his genes, he just had a small heart problem and that was literally the only reason he couldn't get into space. But Vincent would do anything to get into space. So he fakes to be a guy named Jerome so that he could get into space.

Cloning is a very big part in this film. This is what Vincent is trying to do with Jerome. Vincent would take many samples of genetic information from Jerome every day to Gattaca. It was a long process but it was worth it to Vincent. Some of the genetic information Vincent would take from Jerome would be pee, hair, blood, and fingerprints.

I don't really think cloning is that cool. Two of the same people would be really weird and confusing. I think the bad things that could happen would greatly outweigh the good things out of it. The only good thing that I can come up with is that it could maybe look cool. But just say your clone robs a bank.

The police find you walking down the road and arrest you. How are you gonna explain that you didn't rob the bank but your clone did? You both look exactly the same. It would do much more bad things than good and I don't think anybody should further look into doing that were much better off without it.

Want to live a million years?

1) It took me about five tries. I think it took a long time because you notice by your mistakes the first couple times and fix them through out.
2) First I tried out all of the furry ones just because i didn't know how this gamed worked then through out i found out that the taller ones worked better.
3) Yes it would because drift affective to small populations.
4) The ones with long legs, long necks and not so much fur to run faster, to be able to reach high places and fur just enough to keep it warm enough during the winter.
5) Cold conditions: fur. warm conditions: not so much fur. new large predator on the scene: long legs. New tall food source: long necks and long legs.
6) There should less global warming and better traits.

Who wants to live a million years?

1. I actually got it on my second time. But after a couple more times, I realized that I was lucky. This showed me that all these species on earth have a very little chance of survival.

2. I chose the ones that were mostly tall because they could reach the tall berries and thrive.

3.Yes, because there are specific creatures that adapt and they have to adapt a lot. I also noticed the weather was changing a lot so they had to adapt to that.

4. The tall ones were more dominant then the small ones because eventually the small ones adapted to be taller because of how tall the trees were. The ones with fur and the ones without fur kind of depended on the weather. If it was cold, the ones with fur would thrive and the ones without fur would adapt to get fur. The opposite would happen if it was really hot.

5. Cold conditions, fur.  Hot conditions, no fur. Large predator, long legs. High food sources, long necks.

6. Different kinds of predators, more extreme weather conditions, and also make one for humans.

GATTACA essay

The movie GATTACA is about a man who's dream is to go into space but first has to attend at GATTACA. He was smart enough but the only thing stoping him was his genes. From looking at his genes you were able to tell that he had an heart problem which was the whole reason why he couldn't go into space. But to pursue his dream he impersonates and man named Jerome who was very well qualified for working at GATTACA but was never motivated enough to do so he gave Vincent a chance.

In this movies cloning has a huge part. Which is basically what Vincent is doing with Jerome. What Vincent did was have Jerome give him samples of genetic resource that would convince GATTACA that Vincent was Jerome. For example hair, finger prints, blood, and urine samples.

Sometimes I think that cloning would be cool but yet you never know what how thing can turn out. For example if someone clones you, they can mess with you by showing other people different characteristics that aren't you. Yet there can be a good out come maybe your clone can make you look good. But I'd rather not take the chances

Who wants to live a million years? Joey

  1. It took me many generations to win the game. It probably took so long because your not going to get anything perfectly right on the first try. This suggests that the human species will have to keep adapting to what nature throws at us.
  2. At first I chose a furry short character, a regular short character, and a regular tall character because I thought they would survive the longest. Most of the tall characters helped me survive the longest because they could do the most things.
  3. Yes because they would have to adapt a lot. I saw that the weather changed many times and other creatures would affect them.
  4. Long legs, long necks, and furr would help the best because they could run fast, reach tall plants, and stay warm when it’s cold.
  5. Cold conditions: fur. Warm conditions: shorter fur. Large predator: long legs. High food source: long necks.
  6. Make a human survival game, add more extreme conditions, and different predators.
